General Rules in Val d’Isere :
As in Chamonix, Les 2 Alpes, Le grand Bornand or Avoriaz, we are in the mess here in Val d’Isere with city and ski area authorities, due to too many disrespects of the rules, and too many accidents. We face a big risk for Speedriding to be forbidden !!
If you want to avoid us all to be banned Please read carefuly and respect the rules, we thank you in advance.
If you’re caught by ski patrols or cops on the area in a bad behavior, your skipass can be taken, your gear can be taken too.
Ask infos about weather forecast or spots on telegram group, ask to professional paragliders at the main Solaise take-off about air conditions, ask info to ski patrols about snow conditions. Please be kind with everybody, all professionals. .
Don’t make off piste skiers afraid !
Stay far from skiers, we mean 30meters minimum.
Stay 50meters above or aside obstacles.. We mean chairlifts, chalets, restaurants, any structures as pylones, cables, etc…
Stay 50 meters aside ski pistes when you fly and when you ski.
Don’t fly over ski pistes !
For your safety please be equiped with avalanche gear to be localised or to be ready to help someone.
Check specific spots sections on this group to know where to go and where not to go.
Thank you very much for respecting all these points !
Have a good ride,
Havefuntakecare.
The most practiced spot in Val d’Isère, offering you plenty of run variations without much danger
Takeoff:
Once you exit the cable car, head towards the ski patrol hut then follow the orange lines until you arrive at the ULM runway (be careful at the ULM) the takeoff is just after
Another takeoff is next to you but reserved for professionals/and tandem pilote so avoid taking off there and be respectful with them
Takeoff: the platform is always flat and allows you to prepare comfortably
Once you leave, 3 choices are available to you:
-go to the right to stay on a fairly flat slope
-in the middle to take the main corridor which is rather wide and welcoming
-go to the left to go into all the small corridors which are rather steep
🟥 :⚠️⚠️⚠️ be careful here there is a hole if you arrive at its level the crash will be the next step
Flight plan :
🟦 : The area is really vast and will let you express your imagination, no notable traps apart from the hole near the takeoff
🟩: on this last part you will find a small forest so watch out for wing tip
Landing:
🟥 : the landing is long but a little sloping so be sure to stop before the pedestrian crossing
Many paragliders also land here, they have priority over us so respect them.
Level : (all levels)
Solaise is the place where you will always meet other speedriders, don’t hesitate to talk to find out about the field
The rotation is very fast from the landing you can go straight to reach the slope which is located 3 minutes from the gondola
On the Bellevarde massif
Banane is the perfect spot for riding in the morning thanks to its South-East exposure
Take-off :
🔵 Leaving the Olympique take the Face de Bellevard until you arrive at the intersection of the 2 slopes then head towards the “danger” signs.
Takeoff is just behind on a flat platform
A small flat area located just after takeoff, it’s common to land on it.
Flight plan :
🟦 Classic Banane: large area often frequented by off-piste skiers
The first part is relatively steep then a large plateau is located below where you can land to finish the last part by skiing or flying
🟥 Classic landing: very long ,the landing is relatively simple but is right next to the “Santon” slope , don’t get too close to it
🟩 Joseray: once you have passed the steep part, head to the left to land and ski to the trees, stay well to the right of the trees to take off again
Be accompanied by someone who has already done the run to do it
⚠️many obstacles are present in this area, be sure to have the required level
🟥 Joseray Landing:
⚠️⚠️⚠️ complicated landing
Between trees, slope and steep side landing you already have to be very comfortable with landing to use it

Résumé:
Level: intermediate
Banane is the meeting point for for morning speedflyer
With a big area and a lot of variation it will be perfect place to warming up.
The most iconic mountain in Val d’Isère , THE perfect place to show why you training for.
It will blow your mind with 3 faces mixing all terrain making us able to fully practise speedriding !
Under here you’ll find all information you need to ride perfectly Charvet.
All different take offs:
🔵 East face takeoff: leaving Grand Pré continue straight ahead, going slightly up to the left, a 3-minute crossing will follow until you reach the pass
The takeoff is relatively clear and not too steep but missing your takeoff can quickly be dangerous because of the steep slopes that follow ⚠️
🟠South-East face takeoff: access is the same as for the East takeoff but when you arrive at the pass you will have to go up to the right for about 5 minutes to arrive on the shoulder once there several take-offs are available to you but they are all steep so be sure to have the level
🟡South face takeoff :
⚠️⚠️⚠️close for the moment cause too much people follow our tracks and get stuck in the middle of nowhere ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Flight plans:
🔵East face: the first part and rideable until half of the run (relatively steep) then you will overlook the cliffs
🟠South-East face: the beginning is skiable but very steep then follows directly to large cliffs
🟡South Face: practically skiable in its entirety and ending with a beautiful little cliff (southern Face so the snow transforms quickly)
Landing zone :
You can land in the two red rectangles 🟥
Both landings may be frequented by skiers so plan your landing accordingly
Then you can take the chairlift manchet to go back on Solaise

If it’s your first on Charvet you should start by East Face
Charvet has a lot to offer but it must be respected this place is more oriented for comfirm pilot
And you are located in an off-piste area so adequate equipment does not hurt
You shouldn’t go here after 12h-13h cause it can be really thermals so don’t fly in shitty condition ⚠️
This mountain is also frequented by many off-piste skiers so do not hesitate to warn them of our practice and not to follow in our tracks !
“Marmottons” and “Arcelle” are 2 easy spots along the Manchet chairlift. Marmottons allows to ride till the bottom, Arcelle stops near the little chalets a bit after the middle of the slope. Arcelle is the cool spot to slide and fly for beginners, the step after the “Grand Prés” school slope. Marmottons is the perfect spot to progress into skiing with your canopy, getting back from air to the ground, cool riding. It’s versatile and soft.. Take care anyway!
Marmottons access:
Exiting the Manchet chairlift, turn left to join the black piste Marmottons, follow it at first then turn right to get to the Nordic ski path and take-off area.
Caution on Marmottons !
Please stay far away from the wild black Marmottons ski track, that you recognize with black poles. Please land far from the chairlift at the bottom, 50 meters minimum. Ski patrols are complaining we land too close of the lift. Thank you.
Arcelle access:
Exiting the Manchet chairlift, turn right and cross the Arcelle ski piste to reach the take-off area.
Caution on Arcelle !
The run finishes near the chalets that are at the 2/3 of distance. The down part of the run is forbidden! Don’t finish or land at the bottom of the Arcelle ski piste! It’s a closed area due to proximity of ski piste, Nordic skiing pistes and pedestrials tracks.. Ski patrols are very angry about this zone. Thank you.
⚠️⚠️⚠️This area is CLOSED ! It's strictly forbidden to go there! Thank you.⚠️⚠️⚠️
